Wherever you live in the world, consider yourself lucky if you have a roof over your head, even if it has an occasional leak. Having a hole or two is quite normal these days, especially if you’re a renter. Repairman: “Looks like something went through the roof.”
Nobody can afford home, and rent is disproportionately increasing faster than average wages can keep up. I wonder how many people on the streets hooked on drugs wearing trash bags as waterproof sweaters were once people who were barely making by working their asses off, and eventually were just broken and they gave up. It’s a real shit state of affairs. I plan on getting into municipal work and moving to Portugal. I feel like American dream died when we became nothing but a machine for a military industrial complex and a catalogue for gawdy consumerist lifestyles. The nature is nice in my state though :)
